The 2007 festival was unfortunately attacked by the weather, we thank everybody that turned up to play and a special thanks to all who attended.
Stage 2 the Merseyrock stage, was very popular and a big thank you to Mike for all his skills in booking and sorting the bands on stage, cheers mate.
Now for some news on this year.
If it were possible, nothing would please us more than to revert to the days when the Festival was a free event. However, the progress and success that has been achieved brings more and more responsibilities, i.e. health and safety issues, expenditure ect. Last year we have found ourselves in a situation where we would have had to keep the fence lines on site until the end of the event (Sunday evening). Thus we would have had the additional financial burden of hiring staff and equipment for an extra day. We initially set the rate at £2.00 entry for Sunday, whilst we tried to secure a headline act to close the event. We try each year to keep the entry fees to a minimum, but when you look at the total entry fee for the three days it amounts to £14.50. In comparison our headline act from 2007 Dr. Feelgood, played a well known local venue and it was £14.00 per person for one evenings entertainment. In addition, all the smokers had to smoke outside the venue. Due to the constraints of time we did not manage to work out a package deal with discounts for a weekend ticket and possibly a family ticket, but it will be on the cards for future years. Please remember children under 14 are allowed in free with a responsible paying adult. Once again we welcome any realistic comments, ideas ect. to improve your Festival. We as a committee are only the guardians of your Festival.
As of previous years we will be selling advertising space in our souvenir programmes so if you want to advertise then again please mail us or phone. Last years food vendors were superb with lots of styles of food available. There was also an excellent beer tent selling various beers spirits and soft drinks.
Entries: we are now looking for acts for 2009, We will be reducing the number of bands playing each day so we can allow more time for playing, and changing sound equipment between bands. Once again thanks to all who applied to appear in 2008, unfortunately it was cancelled. Please if you want to play this year apply now with Biog and demo to the Griffin Hotel.
